Your Host

I have been reading comics for over 1o years now. I have been surrounded by them ever since I can remember. My first encounter with comics was when my dad showed me this VHS tapes of old Marvel Comics cartoons. I was drawn into the world of superheroes faster than you can say, “Excelsior!” Soon after my dad let me have several of his action figures of Marvel Comics heroes that he had and I played with them day in and day out. After that I was given a portion of my dad’s comic collection, which I still have today, and that soon began my comic collecting.

About seven years later I began losing interest in collecting comics. They just weren’t as fun as they used to be. But one day my friend rented the Ultimate Spider-Man video game for PS2. I played it and about a week later bought it used for $18. I began looking at the cover for the comic of Ultimate Spider-Man and thought the art looked neat and I was interested in trying out the book. A month later the opportunity to buy a couple issues of Ultimate Spider-Man arose and I got Ultimate Spider-Man#26 and Ultimate Spider-Man#34 for a total of $1.25. I got home and read them and was immediately drawn into the world of Ultimate Spider-Man and my interest for collecting comics rose like a phoenix out of the ashes.

Ultimate Spider-Man was my gateway drug for comics. I soon started buying Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Fantastic Four, and anything else with the words ‘Ultimate’ and ‘Marvel’ on them. That led to me buying more Marvel books. I soon started buying DC and Image and other different comic books and manga until my collection started looking something like this:

This is what 10+ years of collecting comics looks like 🙂

I have developed a love and passion so deep for the comics industry that I want to become a comic book writer.

I’m doing this podcast so that I can spread my love of the industry to others who are interested in getting into reading comics. If any of you guys have any questions at all let me know and I will do my best to answer your questions and help guide you. I promise I won’t be one of those @$$hole comic fans who are mean and snarky. I will be nice and I promise I won’t laugh at you if you ask me questions like, “What is Spider-Man’s real name?” 🙂 I am here to help and I just want to get people aware about the amazing world of comics and while the industry has many bad things it also has a world of wonder beyond all the dark clouds. All you have to do is look a little bit.
